Nadine’s Journey: Encounter to Calling

Mar 3, 2026 | mission, prayer power, stories from our members around the world

There are moments in life that mark us forever — moments when God steps into our ordinary days and everything changes. For World Horizons member Nadine, from Venezuela, this journey began a year after Jesus first drew her to Himself.

Encountering God’s Presence

Nadine describes that season as one filled with a deep and unexplainable hunger for the Lord — a longing she had never experienced before.

One night, this longing led her into a quiet corner of her home. She had no plan, no special words — only a desire to seek God.
She prayed… then prayed more… and continued for hours, simply resting in His presence.

Then something happened.

A sweet and powerful presence surrounded her — gentle yet overwhelming. Tears fell, not from sadness, but from a deep peace she could not describe. It felt as if Jesus Himself was holding her.
And then she heard a whisper:

‘I am here.’

This encounter became a defining moment in Nadine’s walk with God, shaping the simple, steady cry of her heart:

‘Jesus, I only want Your presence.’

The scripture that carries this longing within her is:

‘One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to gaze upon His beauty
and to seek Him in His holy temple.’
 — Psalm 27:4

A New Country, A New Language, A New Lesson

More recently Nadine spent several months with the World Horizons team in south-west Wales, learning English and serving faithfully with the team.

Nadine arrived in Wales at the end of August  2024. She stepped into a world that felt entirely new — a different culture and a stretching language challenge that would shape her in profound ways.

“When I arrived in London, I understood maybe ten percent.
But when I arrived in Wales… I understood zero percent!”

The accent was strong, people spoke fast, and she often felt lost.
There were days of frustration, sadness, and discouragement.

But God was gently working.

Nadine began to understand more English — little by little. The first time she understood the pastor in the local church, she said it felt like a miracle.

“It was very difficult, but now I am able to understand and communicate. God used this season to teach me about my heart.
I can do things for God, but God is looking at my heart. Over those months, He transformed me.”

A Prayer That Became a Calling

Previously in Venezuela , Nadine had prayed a bold, courageous prayer:

“Lord, send me to a place where people have never heard about Jesus.
You can use my life for Your glory.”

During her training with World Horizons in Venezuela, Nadine met a couple who shared about a nation in South Asia. As they spoke, something stirred deep within her.
Was God really calling her there?

She prayed.
Then prayed again.

When she finally visited the nation on an exploratory trip, God confirmed His call with a single verse:

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” — Luke 19:10

In that moment, she understood: God was calling her to share His love with people who have never heard His name.

Nadine has returned to South Asia and is entering an exploratory season of adjusting to the culture, learning the language, seeking God’s direction, and sharing His love with those around her.

Pause and ask

Nadine’s journey reminds us that God meets those who seek Him — in quiet rooms, in unfamiliar countries, in moments of weakness, and in seasons of calling. Her story is an invitation for every one of us to pause and ask:

Where is God drawing you closer?

Is it into His presence?
Into deeper trust?
Into obedience?
Into a step of courage you’ve been avoiding?
Or perhaps into a calling you’ve not yet dared to explore?

Pray with us

Pray for  Nadine and other internationals adjusting to new languages and cultures — that God would strengthen, comfort, and empower them.

Pray for those sensing a call to the nations — that God would guide their steps and give courage to obey.

Pray for unreached peoples — that hearts would be open and that God would send workers to share His love.
